Plans we accept

We accept most major dental insurance carriers including (but not limited to): Delta Dental, Cigna, MetLife, Aetna, United Concordia, Guardian, Anthem, and many others. If you don't see your carrier listed, give us a call — there's a good chance we work with them.

How we handle claims

As a courtesy, we file dental insurance claims on your behalf. At your visit, we collect your estimated portion (what your plan doesn't cover), then we handle the paperwork with your insurance company. If there's any remaining balance after your insurance processes, we'll send you a statement; if there's a credit, we'll refund it.

Verifying your benefits

Call us before your first appointment with your insurance information, or bring your card to your visit. We'll verify your benefits and give you an estimated cost for any treatment before we begin.

Understanding your policy

  • Deductible: What you pay out of pocket before your plan kicks in.
  • Annual maximum: The most your plan will pay in a given year. This is a common source of surprise — once you hit it, everything else is out of pocket.
  • Waiting periods: Some plans make you wait 6–12 months before covering certain procedures.
  • In-network vs out-of-network: In-network means we have a pre-negotiated rate with your carrier; out-of-network usually means a higher out-of-pocket cost.

Do you file insurance claims for me?+

Yes. As a courtesy, we file claims on your behalf and handle the paperwork with your insurance company. We collect your estimated portion at the time of service.

What is a dental insurance annual maximum?+

Your annual maximum is the most your plan will pay in a given year. Once you hit it, everything else is out of pocket. This is one of the most common sources of surprise for patients, and we'll help you plan around it.

How do I find out what my dental insurance covers?+

Call us with your insurance information before your first visit, or bring your card when you come in. Our team at Shenandoah Dental Center will verify your benefits and give you a clear estimate before any treatment begins.

What is the difference between in-network and out-of-network?+

In-network means we have a pre-negotiated rate with your insurance carrier, which usually means lower out-of-pocket costs for you. Out-of-network coverage may still apply, but your share is typically higher.

What if I don't have dental insurance?+
